Curious & Curiouser: Starting Your Own Fashion...
On and off, I’ve received some e-mails about blogging and style. Many people I run into want to start blogs of their own. Well, my chickadees, you can! I’m teaching a class with Skillshare later this month. Interested in fashion blogging? Style snark? Look no further, you can type-type to your heart’s content with some techniques and skills to work on the blog. Come out in an...

Wishlist Wednesday: Minimalist Whimsy
I’m a sucker for thin and simple jewelry because I love to pile on those pieces- two or three rings with two delicate necklaces is my go-to every day style. I tend to keep an eye out for smaller versions of punchy avant-garde items, think skulls, studs, and geometric shapes, or just a play on traditional styles. These five pieces provide some good inspiration for stacking up on some jewels....

Outfit du Jour: Baby Got Back
When: April 2, 2011 Where: Getting Gorgeous event Dress: Walter Tights: Marshall’s Booties: Sofft Cuff: Forever21 Ring: Swarovski Please do not think I have delusions of grandeur - I am well aware that I am not endowed in the ass department. Sir Mix-a-Lot was the only title I could come up with this cute little (almost) backless dress. And hell, it was on sale for $30. I wear these Sofft...

Getting Gorgeous
(Tineey, Mary, Nubia, Monroe, Pam, Jen, Me, and Janique) This past Saturday, I was invited to attend the Getting Gorgeous event sponsored by Degree. And what a hoot it was! Besides running into some slammin’ blogger friends (Tineey & Monroe), I got to check out new products, trusty brands, and mingle with other cool ladies. Mimosas were had and yes, I got some fun swag to sort...

Outfit du Jour: Keep it Simple
When: March 2011 (I’m bad at dates lately!) Dress: Loehmann’s Leggings: Trouve Flats: Arturo Chiang Necklace: J.Crew Hair clip: Sephora Belt: H&M Black, black, black. This is what I can usually be found in. I like the simple use of black as accessories, too. The crystal and tulle necklace was such a steal at J.Crew - $10 can’t be beat. Petals and silver/clear attributes...

Tips for Shopping on Sale
Madewell has a pretty sweet deal going on: use the code WHYNOT for 25% all sale item garb. This code is good for the next few days. In light of my latest shopping experiments, I’ve been thinking more about quality buying lately. Here’s some rules I use when scouring the sale rack: Quality over quantity. If I have hundred bucks worth of things for $9.99, then I have $9.99 bins worth...

Shopping Ban, Day 31
(source: Ellen von Unwerth) Today marks the last twenty-four hours of my month long shopping ban. Hooray! I’m pleased to say that I went a full month without succumbing to sales and lovely things I happened to see in store windows. It seems a bit silly, perhaps, evens a bit frivolous to make such a production for only going one month without buying anything. On the other hand, maybe ...

Wishlist Wednesday: Minimalism With A Twist
I have always been drawn to minimalist pieces, as they are perfect starting points for layering or jazzing up with statement accessories. Lately, I’ve been focusing on asymmetrical lines and silhouettes since they provide new takes on classic shapes. Here are my six favorite understated but punchy pieces. Cut25 dress, $395 Dannijo cuff, $226 Le Train Bleu sunglasses, $33 Dusty agate...

For A Cause
I have been waiting to write about Japan and New Zealand because I haven’t found the right words. I wanted to express my concern and the deep concern I have - people need help. It’s simple, but I wanted to find some grandiose way to express it. Though, for what? Time is running out. People are still suffering, disoriented, or lost. In these past few weeks I have been able to...
